After six years of living aboard our beautiful 385 Catalina sailboat Casstaway, something happened in September 2022 to disrupt our lives. His name was Ian. He damaged our home, quadrupled our insurance rates, and generally wrecked chaos in our lives for almost two years. But gratefully, we are well schooled in adjusting our sails.

So after months of drama, trauma, insurance intrigue, and constant readjusting of the aforementioned sails, the Casstaways traded water for turf and found a new home and adventure aboard a land yacht! Our rig is a 2023 Grand Design Solitude 380FL fifth-wheel, and our ride is a GMC 3500 HD Denali dually. Upon purchase we temporarily parked them in a fun and friendly RV Resort in Bradenton, Florida, while we got things ordered and organized for full-time RV travel. On April 1st, 2024, we set off to begin our land journeys!
And so our journeys continue as the Adventures of the LV (land vessel) Casstaway. If you are curious about how we fare as we rule the roadways, you can follow our new Facebook page “Casstaway”. After all, we think the name still fits this new incarnation…
